 Emergency Planning Efforts:

CCIC has created an Emergency Planning Task Force with representation from each member institution. While there are several state, regional and local structures in place to manage a pandemic flu or large-scale emergency, the expectation is that these systems will support...not manage...our campus efforts.

Campuses must have specific workable plans in place. These need to be tied into local and regional planning efforts. Additionally, by working together, members can put in place memoranda of understanding between colleges that will guide cooperative efforts in the event of an emergency.

The Task Force members have agreed to the following:

  • The Task Force will meet at least once per semester as a group and members will meet with others in their region more frequently. Within each region, members will connect with their local planning groups to get a sense as to what else is happening in the region.

  • Members will review an excellent checklist to get a sense as to what they need to do on campus with regard to planning. Click here to download the checklist.

  • Regions will consider signing an MOU that outlines ways they will work together and support each other in the event of an emergency.

  • A list serve to be used by the Task Force members has been created.

  • Members will consider whether there are emergency supplies that can be bought through a group contract and will submit ideas to CCIC to see if we can negotiate rates with vendors.

  • Members will consider what training needs they have on their campuses so that we can determine what training can be done as a group.

  • Region 1 Group--Todd Pelazza (chair), Fairfield University, Sacred Heart University. St. Vincent's College, University of Bridgeport.

  • Region 2 Group--Joe Rubertone (chair), Quinnipiac University, University of New Haven, Albertus Magnus College, Yale University.

  • Region 3 Group--Steve Caron (chair), Saint Joseph College, Wesleyan, University of Hartford, Trinity, Goodwin, Saint Joseph College, Rensselaer.

  • Region 4 Group--Connecticut College, Mitchell College, Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts.
